Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join its Applications Development team in Canada. You will design and own high-performance Java applications, architect RESTful services with Spring/Spring Boot, and ensure reliability for latency-sensitive workloads.

You will lead technical delivery, participate in code reviews, and drive testing automation while collaborating with analysts, PMs, and other engineers across functions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience, including cloud-based environments.
• Expert-level Java, RESTful design, and Spring/Spring Boot experience.
• Strong DB knowledge: Oracle/SQL and MongoDB NoSQL.
• Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, MQ, Kafka.
• Commitment to clean code, design patterns, and TDD.
• Agile methods and CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools.
• Ability to lead technical delivery and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency Java services.
• Architect RESTful APIs and backend components with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Translate requirements into technical specs and architecture artifacts.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve the stack.
• Develop and maintain testing automation (unit/integration/perf).
• Lead peer code reviews and raise engineering standards.
• Own production systems and diagnose issues quickly.
• Collaborate with analysts, PMs, and engineers to deliver quality software.
