Job summary

Citi is seeking a Java Developer to join the technology team in Mississauga. You will design, build, and maintain Java-based applications that support critical financial services operations, with autonomy and collaboration across technology and business teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on development experience in Java/J2EE.
• Proficiency in Core Java 8 and the Spring ecosystem with ORM experience.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and JSON data exchange.
• Working knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, indexes and triggers.
• Familiar with Ant/Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube and JUnit for testing.
• Ability to analyze systems, handle priorities, and deliver under pressure.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance features on Citi1Credit using Core Java 8, Spring, and RESTful APIs.
• Design components across the full development lifecycle—from analysis to deployment and support.
• Identify vulnerabilities and security gaps, applying fixes through debugging and testing.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects for performance.
• Integrate CI pipelines with Maven/Jenkins/SonarQube to ensure code quality and fast delivery.
• Collaborate with business users and tech teams to diagnose issues and propose engineering solutions.

Job description

Citi is looking for a Java Developer (Apps Dev Intermediate Programmer Analyst - C11) to join the technology team and contribute to the development and enhancement of the Citi1Credit platform. In this hands-on engineering role, you will design, build, and maintain Java-based applications that directly support critical financial services operations. Working with a level of autonomy and collaborating across technology and business teams, you will play a meaningful part in delivering robust, high-quality software solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance new features on the Citi1Credit platform using Core Java 8, Spring Framework, and RESTful APIs, contributing directly to platform capability and stability.
• Design and develop application components across the full development lifecycle — from analysis and construction through to testing, implementation, and ongoing operational support.
• Identify application vulnerabilities and security gaps, and implement fixes through structured debugging and testing practices.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support efficient data access and application performance.
• Integrate continuous integration pipelines using tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and SonarQube to maintain code quality and streamline delivery.
• Consult with business users and technology teams to diagnose issues, recommend engineering solutions, and support deployed systems.
• Assess risk considerations when making technical decisions, ensuring solutions meet compliance standards and uphold the reliability of client-facing systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 2+ years of hands-on development experience in Java/J2EE, including practical application in financial services or comparable technology environments.
• Proficiency in Core Java 8 and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Core, Spring MVC, and Spring JDBC, with applied experience in JDBC, JPA, and ORM frameworks.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful web APIs, with solid understanding of JSON-based data exchange.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write and optimize queries, stored procedures, indexes, and triggers.
• Familiarity with build and CI tools including Ant or Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and JUnit for unit and integration testing.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze systems, identify solutions, and deliver results under pressure while managing shifting priorities and deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical discipline.
