Job summary

Citi is seeking an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join a team modernizing CitiDirect’s Payment architecture. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable Java-based backend services, and architect microservices using Spring Framework and cloud tools.

The role requires hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kafka, MongoDB, Oracle, and strong unit/integration testing, with a focus on security and scalable performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java development with Core Java proficiency.
• Extensive Spring Framework experience, including Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Microservices architecture design and implementation experience.
• Reactive programming experience.
• Proficient with Kafka for event-driven systems.
• Strong MongoDB schema design and query optimization for large-scale apps.
• SQL and Oracle database performance optimization.
• RESTful API design and secure coding practices.
• Unit and integration testing with JUnit/Mockito.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable Java backend services.
• Architect and implement microservices using Spring Framework 6, Spring Boot 3, Spring Cloud.
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
• Work with MongoDB and Oracle; design schemas and optimize queries.
• Implement and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
