Job summary

Senior Freight Forwarder position in Saint John, New Brunswick, on-site, within a full-time role. Qualifications

• Several years of international freight forwarding experience (ocean and air).

• Strong understanding of import/export processes and customs workflows.
• Experience coordinating over-the-road transportation with customers and carriers.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Results-driven, self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to relocate to Saint John NB.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end international freight movements across ocean and air.
• Handle import/export documentation, customs clearance requirements, shipment milestones, and air freight DG compliance.
• Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and transportation partners.
• Support carrier sourcing, pricing, capacity management, and rate negotiations.
• Troubleshoot time-sensitive shipment, documentation, customs, and service challenges to protect revenue and service.
• Participate in on-call rotation for time-critical logistics requirements.

About Our Client

Our client is an established transportation and logistics organization with operations across Canada and the United States. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Freight Forwarder to join their team in Saint John, New Brunswick. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded freight forwarding professional with strong international experience across ocean, air, and over-the-road transportation. The successful candidate will manage complex international shipments, build strong customer and carrier relationships, and contribute to service, revenue, and margin growth. The organization is looking for someone who thrives in a competitive, results-driven environment and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. While this role is primarily focused on technical freight forwarding expertise, there will also be opportunities to coach and support junior team members and take on greater leadership responsibilities as the operation grows.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end international freight movements across ocean and air, including coordination of over-the-road transportation.
• Manage import/export documentation, customs clearance requirements, shipment milestones, and air freight dangerous goods compliance.
• Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and transportation partners while providing proactive shipment updates and resolving service issues.
• Support carrier sourcing, pricing, capacity management, and rate negotiations while staying current on market conditions.
• Troubleshoot time-sensitive shipment, documentation, customs, and service challenges while contributing to customer satisfaction, revenue, margin, and operational performance.
• Participate in an operational on-call rotation and support specialized or time-critical logistics requirements as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Completed undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline.
• Several years of progressive international freight forwarding experience with strong hands-on experience in both ocean and air freight.
• Knowledge and practical experience with air freight dangerous goods requirements and compliance.
• Strong understanding of international import/export processes, customs workflows, shipping documentation, and end-to-end shipment execution.
• Experience coordinating over-the-road transportation and working directly with customers, carriers, customs brokers, and other transportation partners.
• Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Results-driven, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Willingness to relocate to or currently reside in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with project logistics, time-critical shipments, or complex multimodal freight movements.
• Previous experience coaching or mentoring junior freight forwarding professionals.
• Experience with carrier pricing, sourcing, revenue, and margin management.
