We are currently seeking a Junior Freight Coordinator to support our logistics and customs compliance operations at our Toronto Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual looking to build a career in freight brokerage, customs compliance, and international trade.

Logistics & Coordination

  • Assist in the management and oversight of operational logistics, coordinating with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to support on-time shipment execution under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Prepare and validate customs documentation, including commercial invoices, HS classifications, and applicable permits and licences, and assist with timely submission.
  • Support CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) processes.
  • Assist in ensuring ACI/eManifest timeliness and accuracy across highway and other transportation modes to help avoid AMPS (Administrative Monetary Penalty System) penalties.

Documentation

  • Prepare and process all required shipping and customs documents accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Tracking & Monitoring

Cost Management

  • Assist in monitoring transportation costs and support accuracy in freight invoicing.
  • Flag potential accessorial or detention charges to the senior coordinator.
  • Develop working knowledge of cost-versus-service trade-offs in routing and mode selection.

Professional Development

  • Maintain and develop proficiency in CargoWise or comparable freight/customs software.
  • Pursue relevant training opportunities and actively participate in company networking and learning initiatives.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Escalate and support adherence to TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) requirements where dangerous goods are handled, including documentation, marks, labels, and training awareness.
  • Support customer and partner PIP (Partners in Protection) / Trusted Trader security practices where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Customs Brokerage, or a related field (completed or in progress), or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Enrollment in, or willingness to pursue, CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or CIFFA certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in documentation and data entry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under supervision within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Basic understanding of Canadian customs and trade regulations is an asset; training will be provided.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); experience with CargoWise is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
What We Offer
