Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking a Technical Leader, Software Development, for a remote Canada-based role. You will design and deliver scalable backend services on Splunk Cloud Platform, guiding architecture and ensuring reliability.

Key contributions include building AI-powered monitoring, driving cross-functional execution, and shaping platform evolution while working within Pacific Time Zone constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s 6+ years; or PhD 3+ years.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating backend services in a public cloud.
• Experience architecting scalable distributed systems for high load.
• Hands-on backend development with Python, Go, or Java.
• Technical leadership on software projects including system design and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs on Splunk Cloud Platform.
• Drive technical execution with engineers, managers, and architects.
• Develop monitoring and AI-powered capabilities for diagnostics and remediation.
• Shape the evolution of the monitoring platform and integrations.
• Ensure production reliability and participate in on-call rotation.
