Job summary

Cisco Systems’ Splunk engineering team seeks a Technical Leader, Software Development to design and deliver scalable backend services for the Splunk Cloud Platform. You’ll work with engineers, architects, and cross‑functional partners to drive reliability and performance in data ingestion.

This remote Canada‑based role requires work in the Pacific Time Zone, with preference for PT locations. You’ll lead technical direction, build AI‑powered capabilities, and contribute to platform integrations

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating backend services in public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience architecting or developing scalable distributed systems for high‑volume workloads.
• Hands‑on backend development in Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience providing technical leadership on software engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs on Splunk Cloud.
• Drive technical execution with engineers and architects to define solutions.
• Develop monitoring and AI-powered capabilities for proactive diagnostics.
• Shape the evolution of the monitoring platform and build integrations.
• Ensure production reliability with troubleshooting and on‑call rotations.
