Off2Class in Toronto, Canada, is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to strengthen and extend its ESL platform. You will own server-side architecture, APIs, and data processing to support schools, teachers, and learners.

You will collaborate with the Lead Developer and TPM to deliver scalable backend features, improve performance, and ensure reliable deployments in AWS. Proficiency in PHP, API design, databases, and testing is essential.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and server-side development.
• Experience with Ubuntu, Nginx, SQL, Redis.
• Experience managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS).
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and integrations.
• Strong testing, debugging, performance optimization, and production support experience.
• Experience using Jira, GitHub, or Linear.

• Design, build, and maintain reliable server-side application logic, APIs, services, and integrations.
• Develop scalable back-end features from technical planning through deployment.
• Improve existing back-end systems for performance, maintainability, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure APIs and data flows support product requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following engineering standards.
• Review pull requests focusing on performance, security, reliability.
• Identify and reduce technical debt in core systems.
• Design, optimize, and maintain database queries, schemas, data access patterns.

• Investigate bottlenecks and production issues.
• Support cloud infra and services, including AWS EC2 and RDS.
