Job summary

Terminal builds telematics data infrastructure for the commercial fleet industry from Toronto. You will own end-to-end backend systems, shaping APIs and platform components used by customers to access data from 330+ providers.

Join a team that ships at scale, with in-person collaboration in downtown Toronto. Expect to work on TypeScript/Node.js services deployed on AWS, with strong ownership and customer-facing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineer with end-to-end production systems ownership.
• Able to make tough architecture decisions.
• Skilled at working with messy, undocumented external systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and failure modes.
• Platform builder who designs lasting systems.
• Ability to scope before building and balance depth vs speed.
• Customer-facing and able to participate in demos and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design new features and platform capabilities with teammates and customers.
• Build primitives powering the platform: connector frameworks, orchestration, monitoring, auth, testing, and more.
• Shape how we build with AI-powered tooling.
• Add and maintain integrations across 330+ telematics providers, making messy APIs reliable.
• Work with integration partners to shape their APIs and improve data at the source.
• Work directly with customers: demos, implementations, and troubleshooting threads.
• Work day to day in TypeScript/Node.js to deploy services on AWS.
