Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is hiring for an AI Platform Engineer focused on building and governing scalable AI infrastructure that supports thousands of users and a growing set of workloads. The role emphasizes production readiness, secure design, and collaboration across global teams.

You will design gateways and runtimes, enforce guardrails, and mentor peers while advancing distributed backend systems with modern AI tooling. This remote role targets Canada-based candidates.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Practical experience building with LLMs or AI frameworks for production workloads.
• Strong communication and collaboration across global teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and own technical decisions and projects within the AI Platform team from design through launch and on-call.
• Design and build the gateway, runtime, and evaluation services that scale AI workloads to millions of users.
• Implement identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controls for model and tool adoption.
• Partner with security, infra, and product teams to set guardrails for agentic workloads and on-behalf-of identity models.
• Create and monitor metrics and ensure operational health including monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
• Contribute to code review standards and share best practices beyond the team.
