Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer to design a next-generation reliability platform for production systems. You will blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to provide a single view for understanding, debugging, and improving service health.

The role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and high-quality code, with responsibilities spanning delivering quarterly goals, collaborating across product, design and analytics, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale with technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering major features with elegant, simple, extensible design.
• Strong ownership and ability to write high-quality code that others can use.
• Proven communication skills for collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Identify and lead initiatives to solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics and contributing to on-call efforts.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and advocate them beyond your team.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.
