This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and follows a hybrid work arrangement.

Your Role

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex reconciliation breaks, operational exceptions, and control-related issues.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to team members while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies across cash, securities, custody, and investment operations activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurring operational issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing risk, and improving service quality.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization while maintaining a strong control environment.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Risk, and Client Service teams to improve workflows and strengthen controls.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, operating standards, and training documentation.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Your Team

You will join a growing Custody Operations team supporting National Bank Trust's institutional custody and investment operations across Canada. Based in Vancouver, you will collaborate closely with colleagues located across multiple offices and play a key role in delivering high-quality operational services to internal and external partners.

This position offers an opportunity to act as a Team Lead by providing day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and operational leadership. While the role does not include formal people management responsibilities, success will depend on your ability to influence, coach, develop others, and drive positive outcomes through your expertise and leadership.

We offer a flexible hybrid work environment that supports both professional success and personal well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reconciliation, custody operations, securities operations, fund administration, investment operations, or a related area within financial services.
  • Previous experience as a Team Lead, Senior Analyst, or subject matter expert supporting and mentoring a team.
  • Strong expertise in reconciliation management, operational controls, exception management, and break investigation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, operational efficiency, automation, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of securities processing, investment operations, custody services, and operational risk management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
