Job summary

AutoCanada is seeking a Senior Accountant for its Edmonton, AB operations. The role focuses on bookkeeping, reconciling accounts, and compiling financial statements, with responsibilities including sales tax filings, supporting team members, and handling ad hoc projects in a fast-paced automotive group environment.

Qualifications

• Some work experience in accounting related roles and ability to apply accounting concepts in real world situations.
• Solid accounting knowledge including job costing, accruals, prepaids, receivables and payables.
• Experience using accounting software such as QBO or Sage for data processing and reconciliation.
• Good understanding of GST/HST; PST knowledge is a plus.
• Strong time management to meet deadlines and maintain clear communication.

What are the must haves…

• Some work experience in accounting related roles. Need to know how to apply accounting concepts in real world situations
• Very sound accounting knowledge. Needs to understand concept of job costing, accruals, prepaids, receivables, payables and how intercompany transactions and personal items are handled.
• Experience in using accounting software such as QBO or Sage for data processing and reconciliation
• Good understanding of how GST/HST works. Have understanding of how various PST works is an asset.
• Good time management to meet all deadlines
• Maintain good communications with all parties
• Remain attention to details in fast pace environment and when handling high volume of data
• Adaptable to changes to meet business needs
