Job summary

AutoCanada Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the ACX Home Office team in Edmonton, AB. This full-time onsite role focuses on bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial statement compilations.

You will manage GST/HST filings, intercompany transactions, and support ad hoc projects in a fast-paced automotive dealer group environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, accruals, prepaids, receivables and payables.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or Sage for data processing and reconciliation.
• Solid GST/HST understanding; PST knowledge is an asset.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle bookkeeping and account reconciliation.
• Prepare and compile financial statements.
• Submit and manage sales tax filings and payments.
• Support other team members and assist on projects.
• Perform administrative tasks as needed.
• Participate in various special projects.

What drives your day-to-day?

• Bookkeeping
• Account reconciliation
• Compilation of financial statements
• Filing and payment of various sales taxes
• Assist other team members
• Some administrative work
• Various projects as required

What are the must haves…

• Some work experience in accounting related roles. Need to know how to apply accounting concepts in real world situations
• Very sound accounting knowledge. Needs to understand concept of job costing, accruals, prepaids, receivables, payables and how intercompany transactions and personal items are handled.
• Experience in using accounting software such as QBO or Sage for data processing and reconciliation
• Good understanding of how GST/HST works. Have understanding of how various PST works is an asset.
• Good time management to meet all deadlines
• Maintain good communications with all parties
• Remain attention to details in fast pace environment and when handling high volume of data
• Adaptable to changes to meet business needs
