Job summary

AutoCanada is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to support IFRS reporting during maternity leave coverage in Edmonton. You will work within the Financial Reporting team to deliver consolidated statements, ensure IFRS compliance, and support regulatory filings.

The role emphasizes building robust working papers, collaborating with auditors, and driving process improvements through data and technology. A 2–3 year track record in financial reporting and strong Excel skills are required, with

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with public practice background or equivalent public company Financial Reporting experience.
  • Experience with IFRS.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA designation considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, and work well in a demanding dynamic environment and meet overall objectives.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to manipulate large volumes of data to provide meaningful insight into financials.
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and supporting the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements process in compliance with IFRS, as well as certain statutory financial reporting requirements
  • Support the implementation of new accounting processes and new accounting standards
  • Analyze financial results under strict deadlines – collaborate with the Company’s Operational Accounting team to explain variances
  • Contribute to written components of the quarterly reports, annual reports, press releases, conference call scripts and regulatory filings
  • Prepare and review reconciliations, address inquiries, create schedules, and presentations for senior management
  • Preparation and submission of required Federal and Provincial regulatory filing documents
  • Collaborate with external auditors during interim reviews and the annual audit

Position: Financial Reporting Analyst Location:Edmonton, AB Classification: Contract Position (Maternity leave coverage - Up to 18 Months), Immediate Hire

Your area of focus.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) and full-cycle accounting experience. You will be an important member of the Financial Reporting team tasked with ensuring the Company remains compliant with IFRS and fulfills all required regulatory filings. You’ll prepare complex working papers, support the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements, and assist with the implementation of strategic initiatives – every day is a new challenge. You advocate best practices, are able to work through change, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You seek to optimize process and technology in your work.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and supporting the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements process in compliance with IFRS, as well as certain statutory financial reporting requirements

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with public practice background or equivalent public company Financial Reporting experience
  • Experience with IFRS
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA designation considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, and work well in a demanding dynamic environment and meet overall objectives
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to manipulate large volumes of data to provide meaningful insight into financials
  • High level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends during reporting periods
  • Knowledge of Oracle, CDK, Workiva, OneStream, PowerBI and Tableau systems would be considered an asset
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments
