Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking Security Guards to join our team across Duncan, Crofton, Chemainus and Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island. You’ll work in mobile patrol, retail, events, and other sites, staying active and adaptable in a variety of environments.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, a BC Security Licence, and the ability to walk for extended periods. Training may be provided; OFA 1 is a plus, and Canadian work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• BC Security Licence required (we can help you obtain one on Vancouver Island or via JIBC).
• OFA Level 1 or higher is an asset.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.
• Good physical fitness — ability to walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and assist clients and patrons.
• Write clear and detailed incident, emergency and daily reports.
• Monitor for irregularities, report hazards, and contact responders as required.
• Provide first aid and medical response when needed.
• Perform regular foot patrols to ensure security of personnel, buildings and equipment.
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers.

We’re looking for awesome Security Guards to join our growing team across Duncan, Crofton, Chemainus, and Cowichan Bay (Vancouver Island, British Columbia) ! You’ll have the chance to work in a variety of environments - from mobile patrol and retail to events, supportive housing, and port facilities. No two days are the same!

This role is perfect for someone who’s people-smart, customer-focused, and enjoys staying active. Some sites are large, so you’ll definitely get your steps in! We’re looking for flexible team players who can work days, nights, mornings, and/or weekends.

• Provide exceptional customer service and assistance and sustain effective relationships with clients and patrons
• Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency and day to day reports
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations and contact emergency responders as required
• Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
• Perform regular foot patrols to ensure personnel, building and equipment security
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers

Core Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A strong working knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Strong observational skills
• Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure in emergency response situations with minimal supervision

Job Requirements

• A valid BC Security License is required (we can help you obtain one through our in-person training on Vancouver Island, or through JIBC)
• OFA Level 1 or higher is an asset
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Good physical fitness — ability to walk for extended periods (most sites)
• Class 5 or Class 7 Novice BC Driver’s License is required for Mobile Patrol roles
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
