Job summary

Paladin Security in Nanaimo, BC is seeking Security Guards for mobile patrol, retail, events and more. This role requires strong social perceptiveness and customer service, with shifts mornings, days, nights, and weekends.

You will perform patrols, write detailed incident reports, monitor for security breaches, and provide first aid when needed. A valid BC security license and fitness for patrol are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid BC Security Licence.
• OFA 1 or higher is an asset.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Physical fitness to walk and patrol.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency and day to day reports.
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations and contact emergency responders as required.
• Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s).
• Perform regular foot patrols to ensure personnel, building and equipment security.
• Utilize two way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities.
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers.

Job description

We are currently accepting applications for Security Guards to join our various Sites: mobile patrol, retail, events, supportive housing and more in Nanaimo, BC area. This position requires strong social perceptiveness and customer service skills. Sometimes, it may be physically demanding due to the size of the property and requires applicants to be able to work- Morning, days, nights and/or weekends.

Training Wage: $18.75

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency and day to day reports
• Watch for and report irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations and contact emergency responders as required
• Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
• Perform regular foot patrols to ensure personnel, building and equipment security
• Utilize two way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers

Core Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A strong working knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Strong observational skills
• Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure in emergency response situations with minimal supervision

Job Requirements

• Valid security worker license
• Valid OFA 1 or higher is an asset
• Physical fitness: ability to walk for prolonged hours (most sites)
• Class 5 Driving License and Clean Driver's Abstract is required for Mobile Patrol
• Eligible to work in Canada
