Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Security Guard for The Michener Institute in Toronto. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 1500–2300 hours, with a pay rate of $19.49/hr.

Duties include patrolling, access control, incident reporting, and responding to security events on Michener property. Candidates must have at least 2 years of security experience, proficient English, and be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and UOF/MOAB certifications; Paladin covers training costs with a 6-month

Responsibilities

• Protect the safety of persons and belongings on Michener property.
• Respond to calls for service and security incidents; perform operational duties as assigned.
• Notify the Site Supervisor of issues impacting service.
• Complete accurate incident reports before shift end.
• Restrict entry to secure areas to authorized persons only.
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols; document conditions, safety concerns, and weather.
• Monitor security consoles (access control, secure elevators, CCTV).
• Verify visitor and employee identification.
• Manage lost and found and property/safekeeping.
• Provide safety escorts to emergency contractors when required.
• Assist with managing aggressive visitors (verbal and physical).
• Attend and respond to events posing security risks and respond to alarms.
• Assist in preventing illicit substances or weapons; secure items and await TPS.

Qualifications

• Minimum +2 years of experience in security
• Proficient in English (oral and written)
• Willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB Certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB Certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
