Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring for a part-time, 3rd shift position in the Toronto area. The role requires a valid Ontario Security License and First Aid/CPR Level C. Immunizations and ability to work physically across the Emergency Department are essential.

You will respond to emergencies, maintain safety, and collaborate with law enforcement and hospital staff. We offer opportunities for training, competitive benefits, and a paid pathway to Paladin certifications.

Qualifications

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario.
• First Aid & CPR - Level C certification.
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test.
• English fluency (oral and written) required.
• Prior security, law enforcement, or related field experience preferred.
• MOAB and UOF certifications required or available through Paladin program.

Responsibilities

• Write reports and investigate routine incidents.
• Respond to coded emergencies quickly and efficiently.
• Provide security presence and support in the Emergency Department.
• Assist in developing security plans for high-risk patients.
• Work with local law enforcement and emergency services.

Job description

Baycrest is an academic health sciences centre providing a continuum of care for older adults, including independent living, assisted living, long-term care and a post-acute hospital specializing in the care of older adults all within one campus.

Job Description:

• You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents
• Respond to coded emergencies in a quick and efficient manner
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance
• This role requires you to be physically fit and able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time of up to 3-4 hours in between break periods.
• Monitor for and elevate security concerns within the Emergency Department
• Assist in developing security plans for high-risk patients
• Provide security presence and support throughout the Emergency Department
• Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
• Oversee and support patient watch guards within the Emergency Department
• Work closely with local Law Enforcement and Emergency Services
• Ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors within the Emergency Department
• Assist hospital staff with patient restraints as required or directed according to standard operating procedures
• Adhere to all hospital policy and procedures and maintain compliance

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
