Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking a Commissionaire for the CFB Borden location in Ontario. The role focuses on access control, CCTV monitoring, patrols, incident reporting, and client liaison to ensure high service standards.

The ideal candidate will hold an Ontario Security Guard License, WSIB First Aid/CPR, and be eligible for Secret security clearance. Flexibility to work varied hours and a strong commitment to professionalism are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Ontario Security Guard License.
• Must have WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance (Canada resident 10+ years, clean record).

Responsibilities

• Ensure access control policies are followed and client property is secured.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and maintain security logs.
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors as needed.
• Complete site reporting, daily logs and written reports.
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance and coordinate with authorities.
• Patrol interior and exterior areas and enforce Trespass to Property Act when required.
• Sign visitors in/out and perform ID checks.
• Maintain professional appearance and deportment at all times.
• Liaise with Police, Fire, and EMS during incidents as appropriate.

INTRODUCTION :

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR :

• Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
• Monitor CCTV cameras
• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Maintain effective communication
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
• Regular interior and exterior foot patrols
• Enforce the Trespass to Property Act when required.
• Complete patrol and incident reports utilizing reporting software, and paper reports as required.
• Sign visitors in and out along with ID checks
• Report concerns or complaints received to Supervisor or Manager
• Perform 'stand downs' at client locations to ensure continuity of guard service, as requested by supervisor or manager.
• Be available to adjust schedule as required to accommodate the needs of the team.
• Undertake all training assigned to you in a timely fashion.
• Maintain professionalism at all times, during all interactions.
• Liaise with Police, Fire, EMS as appropriate during incidents.
• Operate company patrol vehicle in accordance with company policy and HTA regulations.
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US :

• *MUST* Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• *MUST* Valid WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate
• * MUST * Have the ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance (resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
• Security Clearance Requirement: Reliable upgradeable to Secret
• The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
