Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking a vigilant Commissionaire for CFB Borden, Ontario. You will perform building checks, enforce access control, escort visitors, and respond to alarms, while maintaining professional conduct and radio communication.

Required are the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, a full G-class license with a clean driving record, and the ability to obtain Secret S security clearance.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Full G class license with clean driving abstract.
• Ability to obtain Secret S security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Drive 8 passenger van and transport guards to site checks as per client specs.
• Maintain access control and secure client property; escort visitors as needed.
• Perform interior and exterior building checks; report findings daily.
• Respond to alarms, operate alarm panels and log activity.
• Maintain professional appearance and radio communication.
• Stand/walk for long periods and complete patrols as required.
• Prepare daily logs and written reports for site supervisor.

INTRODUCTION

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Drive 8 passenger van with Guards to conduct interior building checks. Buildings may be vacant, occupied or equipment storage. Building list as per client specifications.


• Ensuring access control is followed and client property is secured, escorting visitors as required


• Maintaining positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients


• Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment


• Good Radio communication


• Conducting physical checks of buildings at directed


• Secure and open Access Gates as directed


• Responding to alarms and utilization of alarm panels


• Completing daily logs and written reports as necessary


• Ability to stand/sit for a longer period of time


• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time


• Ability to complete frequent patrols


• Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset


• *MUST* be able to operate a two way radio


• MUST be able to obtain DND 404 Vehicle Operator License

• Hourly Rate of Pay: $27.93 per hour


• Hours of work: Monday to Sunday 1800 to 0600hrs
