Job summary

Paladin Security Group is hiring a Security Guard for MaRS Discovery District in downtown Toronto. This part-time role requires weekend shifts (Friday and Saturday, 11:00 PM – 11:00 AM) with a pay rate of $19.83/hr.

You will ensure safety through patrols, quick response to incidents, and courteous service. Minimum 1 year security experience is required, along with English proficiency, vaccination proof and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of security experience.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Proof of double COVID-19 vaccination and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Completion of Paladin pre-placement training (First Aid, MAB, Use of Force, Report Writing) and post-hire online courses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive foot patrols to deter risks and hazards.
• Respond promptly to routine incidents, alarms and emergencies.
• Investigate site matters and draft accurate incident reports.
• Assist visitors, staff and tenants with professional service.

Job Title: Security Guard
Employment Type: Part Time
Pay Rate: $19.83 /hr
Site: MaRS Discovery District
Schedule: Friday and Saturday, 11:00 PM – 11:00 AM
Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

Site Overview

Located in downtown Toronto, the MaRS Discovery District is one of North America's largest urban innovation hubs. Home to healthcare startups, tech enterprises, and leading research institutions, this fast-paced location requires a dedicated security presence to ensure a safe and supportive environment for employees, researchers, and visitors.

What You'll Be Doing

Working assigned weekend shifts, you will ensure the security and safety of the premises through attentive customer service and rapid response. Key responsibilities include:

Conducting proactive foot patrols across the facility to identify and deter safety hazards and security risks.

Responding promptly and effectively to routine incidents, alarms, and emergency situations.

Investigating routine site matters and drafting detailed, accurate incident reports.

Assisting visitors, staff, and tenants with professional and courteous service.

Must Haves

Minimum 1 year of security experience.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Ability to provide proof of double COVID-19 vaccination, and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Completion of mandatory pre-placement training (including First Aid, Management of Aggressive Behavior, Use of Force, and Report Writing) and post-hire online courses provided by Paladin.

Nice-to-Haves

Prior experience working in high-volume corporate, healthcare, or innovation facilities.

An interest in developing skills toward a career in advanced security or law enforcement.
