Job summary

Commissionaires is hiring casual security professionals to protect airports, schools, and facilities across Vancouver Island and Yukon. You will serve a range of clients, handle access control, and respond to emergencies with professionalism.

Location includes Duncan and Chemainus sites with varied day/evening/overnight shifts. Prior security license and driver’s license are assets; strong observation and reporting are required.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and professional demeanor for customer service.
• BC Security Workers License is an asset.
• BC Driver's License is an asset.
• Physically fit for patrol duties in various weather.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English for communication and report writing.
• Ability to stay calm and solve problems during emergencies.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous information to employees, visitors, and clients.
• Control access to restricted areas by verifying credentials.
• Conduct foot patrols to monitor all areas.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with services as needed.
• Document incidents and activities in reports using Tracktik.
• Ensure radios, phones, and access systems function properly and report malfunctions.

Location: Various sites in Duncan and Chemainus

Position Status: Casual

Wage Range: $20.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Reports to: Site Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide assistance and information to employees, visitors, and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Provide access control ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas by verifying credentials.
• Conductfootspatrols to maintain visibility and cover all areas of the property.
• Respondquickly and effectively to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches; take appropriate actionand coordinate with emergency services if necessary.
• Documentincidents, observations, and security-related activities in detailed written reports using Tracktik.
• Ensuresecurity equipment such as radios, phones, access control systemsare functioning,reporting any malfunctions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Positive attitude with a professional demeanour to provide superior customer service.
• A valid BC Security Workers Licenseis an asset.
• A valid BC Driver's License is an asset.
• Physically fit and able to perform patrol duties effectivelyin a range of weather conditions.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English to communication with other and write reports.
• Excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
