Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon is seeking security professionals at Esquimalt Graving Dock. The role includes access control, patrols, surveillance monitoring, incident response, and customer service to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License or be willing to obtain it.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and be minimum 19 years of age.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency in using security technology (alarm and access control systems).
• Physical fitness to stand and patrol for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols to deter security threats.
• Operate and monitor surveillance and alarms systems.
• Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, minimizing risk.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and daily logs.

Position Status: Part-Time and Full-Time

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Wage:$20.00/hr - $21.53/hr

Reports to: Site Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

• Access Control: Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter. Verify identification and issue temporary passes as needed.
• Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols, to detect and deter any suspicious activity or potential security threats.
• Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor surveillance and alarmsystemsto identify and respond to any security breaches.
• Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action to resolve the situation and minimize risk.
• Report Writing: Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation as needed. Maintain clear communication with supervisors and other security personnel.
• Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• The position requires standing or walking for extended periods.
