Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands & Yukon is seeking casual security professionals to support operations across Duncan and Chemainus. You will provide access control, patrol duties, and customer-focused service for a diverse set of clients including schools, airports, and government facilities.

Shifts vary across days, evenings, and overnight hours. The role offers competitive wages, uniform support, and opportunities for advancement within a not-for-profit security organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous information to employees, visitors, and clients.
• Control access to restricted areas by verifying credentials.
• Conduct foot patrols to maintain visibility and coverage.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with responders.
• Document incidents and security activities in written reports (Tracktik).
• Ensure radios, phones, and access control systems function properly.

Location: Various sites in Duncan and Chemainus

Position Status: Casual

Wage Range: $20.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Reports to: Site Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide assistance and information to employees, visitors, and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Provide access control ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas by verifying credentials
• Conductfootspatrols to maintain visibility and cover all areas of the property
• Respondquickly and effectively to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches; take appropriate actionand coordinate with emergency services if necessary
• Documentincidents, observations, and security-related activities in detailed written reports using Tracktik.
• Ensuresecurity equipment such as radios, phones, access control systemsare functioning, reporting any malfunctions

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Positive attitude with a professional demeanour to provide superior customer service.
• A valid BC Security Workers Licenseis an asset
• A valid BC Driver's License is an asset.
• Physically fit and able to perform patrol duties effectivelyin a range of weather conditions.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English to communication with other and write reports.
• Excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
