Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands & Yukon is seeking security professionals to support a range of sites. The role offers flexible shifts with part-time, full-time, and casual opportunities on Vancouver Island and the Yukon.

Responsibilities include access control, patrols, CCTV surveillance, incident response, and concise reporting to uphold safety standards. Ideal candidates possess a valid BC Security Workers License, reliability clearance, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License or be willing to obtain it.
  • Must be able to obtain a Reliability Clearance and be minimum 19 years of age.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high‑pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in using security technology (e.g., CCTV, access control systems).
  • Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Access Control: Monitor and control access to the facility and issue passes as needed.
  • Patrol Duties: Regular patrols of the premises to deter threats and ensure safety.
  • Surveillance Monitoring: Operate CCTV and alarm systems to identify breaches.
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents and coordinate with authorities.
  • Report Writing: Prepare incident reports and maintain logs.
  • Customer Service: Assist visitors and employees while maintaining security standards.

Location: Various Sites in the Victoria area

Position Status: Part-Time, Full-Time and Casual Available

Shifts: Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Wage: $20.00/hr - $21.53/hr

Reports to: Site Supervisor/ Client Service Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • Access Control: Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter. Verify identification and issue temporary passes as needed.
  • Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols of the premises, to detect and deter any suspicious activity or potential security threats.
  • Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems, to identify and respond to any security breaches.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action to resolve the situation and minimize risk. This includes coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as required.
  • Report Writing: Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation as needed. Maintain clear communication with supervisors and other security personnel.
  • Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards.
