Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking a Commissionaire in London, Ontario, to support security for military and civilian sites. The role requires a valid Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, and a reliability clearance with five years residency in Canada.

You will monitor alarms, manage access, and coordinate with local emergency services. You will work as a front-line representative, maintaining professional demeanor, accurate logs, and adherence to CFRIS procedures.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma is required.
• Ontario Security Guard License is required.
• First Aid and CPR certificate required.
• Reliability Security Clearance must be obtainable; minimum 5 years residency in Canada.
• English communication required; bilingual is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor intrusion alarm systems and access for weapon vaults and notified locations.
• Maintain and control key access for authorized users.
• Serve as Canadian Forces Operator for Barracks AOR systems and CSN communications.
• Communicate with London Fire Department during fire alarms and responses.
• Coordinate with civilian police across SW Ontario and related agencies.
• Perform open/close procedures for site locations as trained.
• Keep daily incident logs and maintain security documentation.
• Ensure proper handling of commissionaire training and CFRIS key management.

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Monitor intrusion alarm systems for Military Weapon Vault in the London AOR
• Maintain access lists for Weapon Vault
• Maintain and control key access for authorized users
• Act as Canadian Forces Operator for Wolseley Barracks AOR system to all military units in SW Ontario, as well as the Canadian Switched Network (CSN)
• Maintain direct communication with London Fire Department in the event of all fire alarms and responses
• Interact with civilian police forces in SW Ontario as required
• Perform open and close procedures per site training for building #50 as directed by 31 CBG
• Maintain daily log of incidents as necessary
• Responsibilities include monitoring intrusion systems, and conducting checks on Weapon Vault
• All assigned commissionaires are to maintain current training and knowledge on the systems at the barracks
• The incoming line to the dispatch center is used by both military and civilian personnel
• Provide information and direction to the best of your ability, and transfer calls as needed, both internally, and to other units in other locations
• Ensure that all memos are reviewed and acted upon as required
• You will also be responsible for caretaker and maintaining staff keys
• Sign keys in and out per CFRIS policies and procedures
• You will also be given military account information, for the purposes of performing your duties
