Job Description

People First Employment is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist. The EHS Assistant will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department in implementing and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures. This role helps ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. The EHS Assistant will work closely with the Safety department and other staff to meet regulatory requirements and promote a safety culture.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Location: Ontario, CA
Pay rate: $22 - $25 per hour
Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Maintain and update EHS documentation, records, and reports per regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement EHS policies in line with EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Address safety issues or equipment needs as identified.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory updates.
  • Maintain EHS databases and generate performance reports.
  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports.
  • Support site inspections, including walking and standing for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in an EHS role or similar is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and workers' compensation laws.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Excellent analytical skills for root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying safety information.
