School District 71 in Comox Valley is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join the school office, supporting clerical tasks and student records. The role is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with pay at $30.32 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.
This temporary position ends June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent, with summer break hours during Canada Day to Labour Day. The successful candidate will have Grade 12 plus an office administration certificate, typing 50 wpm,

Grade 12 education supplemented by completion of an office administration program certificate; typing speed of 50 wpm; proficient in Microsoft Office Programs; minimum of two years of current clerical experience; experience in the use of relevant office equipment; meets the physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties are performed under the supervision of the school Principal or Vice Principal, or designate; prepares a variety of correspondence, reports, and other necessary material using appropriate word processing equipment; assists with preparation and maintenance of student records; prepares daily student attendance records from information provided by staff; operates intercom and public address system to receive calls and make announcements; performs telephone and reception duties; processes incoming and outgoing mail and other material; receives and receipts incoming cash for various school funds; assists with other office duties as directed by the principal or senior clerical staff; follows proper work procedures, observes all regulations pertinent to the work, maintains a good working relationship with other employees, and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment; supports students in the office by creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere and by referring students to appropriate school staff in a timely manner; performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor; student supervision as required by the Principal or Vice Principal.
