Job summary

The Erb Group is seeking a Freight Auditor to ensure accurate rating, billing and collection of freight charges, aligning with customer contracts and internal pricing strategies. You will audit freight bills, apply charges, and collaborate with Revenue, Operations, and Pricing teams to uphold revenue integrity.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting preferred.
• Experience in LTL pricing, transportation auditing, or similar role preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Solomon (AS400) systems is an asset.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional interaction with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Audit freight bills to verify accuracy of charges and pricing.
• Assign charges to new accounts and update systems as required.
• Monitor unrated and probill records for historical reporting.
• Review quotes and ensure correct application to shipments.
• Apply secondary charges based on documentation or reports.
• Review delivery manifests for missed account updates or rating discrepancies.
• Maintain current customer rates and fuel surcharge programs.
• Ensure accurate implementation and upkeep of rating templates and pricing rules.
• Assist in building cost models to support rate setting and profitability.
• Conduct weekly audits of billing data for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Maintain records of interline partner rates and validate invoices.

Job description

SUMMARY

The Freight Auditor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely rating, billing and collection of freight charges in alignment with customer contracts and internal pricing strategies. This role plays a key part in maintaining revenue integrity by auditing freight bills, applying appropriate charges, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the implementation of customer rates. The Freight Auditor works closely with the Revenue, Operations, and Pricing teams to ensure coverage, consistency and compliance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Audit freight bills to verify accuracy of charges and ensure proper application of customer pricing and fuel programs.
• Assign charges to new accounts and update systems as required.
• Monitor and maintain unrated and probill count records for historical reporting.
• Review successful quotes and ensure correct application to corresponding shipments.
• Apply secondary charges (e.g., reships, shunting, trailer detention) based on supporting documentation or reports.
• Review delivery manifests to identify and correct any missed account updates or rating discrepancies.
• Maintain current customer rates and fuel surcharge programs.
• Ensure accurate implementation and upkeep of rating templates and pricing rules as per customer agreements.
• Assist in building and maintaining cost models to support rate setting and profitability analysis.
• Conduct weekly and periodic audits of billing data to verify accuracy and contract compliance.
• Maintain records of interline partner rates and support invoice validation based on cost and service performance.
• Support ad hoc rate reviews, quoting, cost validations, and pricing updates as required.
• Assist with investigation and negotiations of Aging reports.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in LTL pricing, transportation auditing, or a similar role preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with Solomon (AS400) systems is an asset.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• In office Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
