Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a Residential Support Worker (Casual/On-Call) for Grace Mansion in Vancouver. You will assist residents with personal development, life skills, and social activities to help them reach their potential.

Responsibilities include intake, confidentiality, and coordinating with partners, as well as responding to emergencies and crises while maintaining professional conduct in line with organization values.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Training in Addictions and/or Mental Health issues preferred.
• Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to be trained.
• WHMIS certification.
• FOODSAFE Level 1 or willingness to be trained.
• Alternative combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone and refer calls to the appropriate person(s).
• Admit visitors to the Centre according to guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate files and records.
• Assist with intake and departure processes for residents.
• May receive residents’ rent and manage funds per protocol.
• Perform other duties as assigned by program manager.
• Supervise/monitor Residents during shifts.
• Respond to inquiries within Centre Policies & Procedures.
• Coordinate resources with Salvation Army, government and community agencies.
• Respond to emergencies and crises as needed.
