Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics (Red Seal) to become a Resident Technician in the Quesnel area. You will troubleshoot, maintain and repair Caterpillar general line, forestry and mining equipment across the region in a field environment, including ultra-class machines.

This permanent role may require occasional shift changes. A recent driver’s abstract is required, and union membership applies.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
• Dedication to safety and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong experience with electrical, hydraulic and emissions systems.
• Transmission or hydraulic testing experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Trouble shoot equipment and perform repairs (may involve remote locations).
• Interface with customers, products and sales support.
• Work with Supervisor on various tasks.
• Provide support with on‑site safety requirements.
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Description

Specific Skills & Experience

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• Valid class 5 drivers license with a clear drivers abstract
• Dedication to safety
• Self motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision
• Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems are required
• Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
• Power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Notes

• This position will work a Monday to Friday day shift
• Shift work may be required in the future
• A recent driver's abstract is required
