Job summary

Connective Support Society is seeking a dedicated care worker to provide casework and resident support across programs. You will help enhance quality of life, ensure safe operation of the facility, and assist with counseling and rehabilitative plans.

You will collaborate with social workers and volunteers, participate in assessments, and support residents with daily living skills, meal planning, and community activities. Excellent English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in a related human/social service field and one year of related experience.
• Experience with clients facing conflicts with the law, developmental disabilities or mental health challenges.
• Experience working with First Nation communities.
• Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
• Understanding of serving people with different learning abilities.
• Ability to manage potential violence.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Participate in assessment, goal setting, and program planning for semi‑independent residents.
• Develop short-term plans with residents and families.
• Collaborate with social workers, outreach workers, and community partners to implement plans.
• Assist residents with daily living skills and community participation.
• Identify and respond to potential emergency situations to minimize harm.
• Administer medications according to policy.
• Maintain health and safety standards and building oversight.
• Document residents’ progress and communicate with families.
• Organize and oversee meals with resident involvement.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to quality care.
• Other duties as assigned.
