Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Reservoir Engineer specialized in unconventional resources to join a team in Kimberley. You will evaluate and optimize shale gas and tight oil plays, performing detailed reservoir characterization, performance analysis, forecasting, and field development planning to maximize recovery from complex reservoirs.

Collaboration with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production teams is essential to drive value from unconventional assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in reservoir engineering with a focus on unconventional resources (shale oil/gas).
  • Experience with reservoir simulation software and forecasting methods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reservoir studies for unconventional plays, integrating geological, petrophysical, and engineering data.
  • Develop and calibrate reservoir simulation models for unconventional reservoirs (e.g., fractured systems).
  • Analyze production data, decline curves, and well performance to forecast future production.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for infill drilling, stimulation optimization, and enhanced recovery techniques.
  • Perform economic evaluations and uncertainty analysis for reserve bookings.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and execute integrated development plans.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Reservoir Engineer specializing in unconventional resources to join their team in Kimberley . This role is focused on evaluating and optimizing the development of shale gas and tight oil plays. You will be responsible for detailed reservoir characterization, performance analysis, forecasting, and the development of field development plans to maximize recovery from these complex reservoirs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production teams to drive value from unconventional assets.
