About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Kimberley . This role is critical for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine production plans, ensuring efficient resource utilization and maximum economic recovery. You will collaborate closely with geological, operational, and technical teams to translate resource models into practical, executable mining plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in mine planning software and a thorough understanding of mining methods relevant to the Northern Cape region, contributing to the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain short-term (weekly/monthly) and long-term (annual/life-of-mine) mine production plans.
  • Design open pit or underground mine layouts, including access routes, stopes, and production areas.
  • Conduct geotechnical reviews and integrate recommendations into mine plans.
  • Perform mineability studies and feasibility analyses for new projects or extensions.
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure plans are practical and efficiently executed.
  • Optimize mine sequencing, scheduling, and equipment utilization for cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
  • Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of various mining methods (open pit and/or underground).
