Qualifications

  • Design drilling fluid programs based on well objectives and geology.
  • Supervise mud engineers and ensure proper fluid treatments and monitoring.
  • Analyze fluid properties and adjust formulations for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot downhole issues such as stuck pipe and hole instability.
  • Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports on fluid performance and challenges.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operations team near Kimberley . This role is responsible for the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. You will analyze fluid properties, recommend treatments, and monitor performance to mitigate drilling problems such as lost circulation, hole instability, and formation damage. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of drilling fluid chemistry and rheology, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both on-site and remotely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and formulate drilling fluid programs based on well objectives and geological conditions.
  • Supervise mud engineers and ensure proper execution of fluid treatments and monitoring.
  • Analyze drilling fluid properties and recommend adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot downhole problems related to drilling fluids, such as stuck pipe and wellbore instability.
  • Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports on drilling fluid performance and operational challenges.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
