Placements24 is assisting a client in Kimberley to hire a Process Safety Engineer focusing on petrochemical operations. You will develop and implement robust PSM systems, conduct hazard studies, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

You will work closely with operations and engineering teams to prevent incidents and maintain a safe working environment. Responsibilities include leading PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA), MOC, incident investigations, and training programs, with emphasis on safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years in process safety engineering, preferably within petrochemical or oil and gas.
• Strong knowledge of process safety principles and risk assessment methods.
• Familiarity with OSHA PSM and Seveso Directive.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PSM programs such as PHA, MOC, and incident investigations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer with a focus on petrochemical operations, based in Kimberley. This role is essential for identifying, evaluating, and controlling process-related hazards within our client's facilities. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust process safety management (PSM) systems, conducting hazard studies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Working closely with operations and engineering teams, you will contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and preventing incidents in the Northern Cape's industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) programs, including PHA, MOC, and incident investigation.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA for new and existing processes.
• Develop and implement safety procedures, guidelines, and training programs for operations personnel.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure process safety is incorporated.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles, hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
