Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in Canada. You will provide planned, patient-centered nursing care and support resident care plans in line with provincial standards, working with an interprofessional team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

You will administer medications, coordinate care, and mentor unregulated staff while maintaining accurate documentation. Strong communication and clinical judgment are essential for handling evolving resident needs.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable Province/State.
• Experience in a senior's environment and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, or long-term care an asset.
• Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, and care coordination skills.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care and medication/treatment administration and document care.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate resident care/service plans with the team.
• Coordinate nursing assignments to ensure timely delivery of services.
• Respond to changes in resident condition and medical emergencies; provide first aid.
• Mentor unregulated care providers and support family education.
• Contribute to Infection Prevention, Health and Safety, and Quality/Safety plans.
