Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a casual Shift Nurse to deliver holistic, person-centred care in homes, clinics, and virtual settings. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to support children, adults, and seniors in the community, focusing on autonomy and full-scope practice.

You will perform assessments, administer medications, manage chronic conditions, and provide palliative and rehabilitative care, contributing to compassionate, quality care for vulnerable clients.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario (RPN).
• Experience with community/home care is an asset.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Criminal Records Check (and Vulnerable Sector Check may be required).
• Must be able to wear PPE and work in varied home/clinic settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform client assessments and care planning.
• Provide primary nursing care in collaboration with other health professionals.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Conduct wound care and dressing changes.
• Manage chronic diseases, e.g., diabetes care/education.
• Collect specimens as required.

• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Working conditions and physical demands:

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
