Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a Registered Nurse for flexible part-time Visiting Nursing roles in Nova Scotia. You will deliver holistic, person-centred home and community care to clients across ages, in homes, clinics, virtually, and in community settings.

You will assess needs, develop care plans, coordinate with other professionals, perform wound care, IV therapy, chronic disease management, and palliative care, while maintaining safety and PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the province of practice.
• Community health experience is an asset.
• Must enjoy driving and have a personal vehicle with valid license and insurance.
• Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Search may be required.
• Must be able to wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients to develop individual care plans.
• Provide primary care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
• Perform wound care, including simple and advanced and negative pressure wounds.
• Manage chronic diseases and provide diabetes care education.
• IV therapy and CVAD management; phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Dialysis management, rehabilitation programs, and palliative/end-of-life care.
• Medication management and other nursing duties as required.

Working conditions and physical demands:

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
