Job summary

Brightshores in Owen Sound is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support Day Surgery and PACU. You will assess patients, provide nursing care, and coordinate with the surgical team for safe recovery.

The role requires current Ontario RN registration, PACU experience, and strong communication. This is a full-time temporary position with an approximate end date in February 2027.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing within the past 5 years.
• Broad surgical experience across subspecialties.
• Post Anaesthetic Course completed within last 3 years.
• Certifications in basic life support and venipuncture handling.
• Computer skills in Cerner, Powerchart and Surginet.

Responsibilities

• Promote health and assess patients in Day Surgery and PACU.
• Provide therapeutic and preventive nursing care for adults and children.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and families for safe recovery.

DEPARTMENT: DAY SURGERY/PACU

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: ONA

STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE FEBRUARY 2027)

REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, measures to adults and children during phase I and II recovery within the perianesthesia setting in Day Surgery and PACU.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years
• Broad surgical experience required in all subspecialties
• Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
• Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent
• Current certification in:o BCLSo Venipucture to start an IVo IV meds below the drip chambero PCAo Epidural analgesia
• Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent
• Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU
