Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a registered nurse for a part-time position in Day Surgery and PACU. You will promote health, assess needs, and provide care and treatment for adults and children in phase I and II recovery.

The role requires current Ontario nursing registration or eligibility, PACU experience, and strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills. Applicants should meet the posted qualifications and be committed to patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Ontario College of Nurses or eligible.
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years.
• Broad surgical experience across subspecialties.
• Post Anaesthetic Course completed within last 3 years.
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent.
• Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent.
• Current certification in venipuncture, IV meds, PCA and Epidural analgesia.
• Must demonstrate computer skills in Cerner, Powerchart and Surginet or equivalent.
• Willingness to cross-train and be scheduled in PACU.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and collaboration with patients and staff.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and safe workplace.

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

STATUS: PART-TIME

REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, measures to adults and children during phase I and II recovery within the perianesthesia setting in Day Surgery and PACU.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required:

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years
• Broad surgical experience required in all subspecialties
• Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
• Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent
• Current certification in:o BCLSo Venipucture to start an IVo IV meds below the drip chambero PCAo Epidural analgesia
• Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent
• Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU
