Job summary

Brightshores Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Day Surgery/PACU in Owen Sound. The role focuses on post-anesthesia care, patient assessment and treatment, and coordination with the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient recovery in a fast-paced setting.

The position requires NRC registration, PACU experience, broad surgical knowledge, and ongoing professional development. Temporary, full-time with anticipated end date January 2027; wage range in the posted band.

Qualifications

• Requires Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience in the past 5 years.
• Broad surgical experience across subspecialties.
• Post Anaesthetic Course completed within last 3 years.
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent.
• Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and IV therapy.
• Proficiency with Cerner PowerChart and Surginet.
• Willingness to cross-train in PACU.
• Excellent assessment, communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and assessment in Day Surgery and PACU for adults and children.
• Promote health and deliver preventive, therapeutic measures.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and smooth recovery.

END DATE JAN 2027)REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENTWAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, measures to adults and children during phase I and II recovery within the perianesthesia setting in Day Surgery and PACU.Skills/Abilities/QualificationsRequired:

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility

• Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent

• Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent
• Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU
