Job summary

Brightshores Health System is seeking a part-time, temporary Registered Nurse for Day Surgery/PACU in Owen Sound. You will support phase I/II recovery, assess patients, and provide therapeutic care with a focus on patient safety.

The role requires active RN registration in Ontario, PACU experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Promote health, assess and treat conditions in adults and children during phase I and II recovery in Day Surgery and PACU.

DEPARTMENT: DAY SURGERY/PACU POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: ONA STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE OCTOBER 2026) REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, measures to adults and children during phase I and II recovery within the perianesthesia setting in Day Surgery and PACU.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required:

• Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility
• Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years
• Broad surgical experience required in all subspecialties
• Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years
• Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
• Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent
• Current certification in:o BCLSo Venipucture to start an IVo IV meds below the drip chambero PCAo Epidural analgesia
• Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent
• Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU

• Excellent assessment skills
