Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a full-time, temporary Critical Care Registered Nurse for the Owen Sound location. The role focuses on assessment and treatment of critically ill adults, with emphasis on patient safety and collaboration with the care team.

The position is union-affiliated (ONA) and ends August 2027, with a wage rate of $41.15–$58.98 per hour. Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care, the nurse must hold active OC Nurses registration and current BCLS/ACLS;

Qualifications

• Active Ontario College of Nurses registration is required.
• 3 years of recent critical care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate.
• Current BCLS, ACLS and PALS (or willingness to obtain within one year).
• Strong critical thinking and ability to respond in emergencies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.
• Commitment to continual professional development and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill adults (and occasionally children) in the critical care setting.
• Promote health, assess needs, and administer treatments during the critical phase of illness.

DEPARTMENT: CRITICAL CARE POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: ONA STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE AUGUST 2027) REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENTWAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
