Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound, Ontario, is hiring a registered nurse for the Critical Care department. The role focuses on promoting health and providing care to critically ill adults (and occasionally children) during the critical phase of illness.

The incumbent reports to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy and must hold an active Ontario nursing license, with 3 years of CC experience and required certifications.

Qualifications

• Active Ontario College of Nurses registration.
• At least 3 years of recent Critical Care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate is required.
• Current BCLS; ACLS; PALS or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Strong critical thinking and emergency response abilities.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill adults (and occasionally children) in the unit.
• Assess and deliver therapeutic, preventive and supportive care.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and high-quality outcomes.
• Participate in staff meetings and unit-specific projects as required.

END DATE DECEMBER 2027)REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENTWAGE RATE: $40.24 - $57.68Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
