Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care unit to focus on health promotion, assessment, and treatment of critically ill adults (and occasionally children) during the acute phase of illness.

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, you will apply advanced nursing skills, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with families and health professionals to support safe, effective patient care.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Nurses registration.
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience.
• Critical Care Certificate.
• Current BCLS.
• Current ACLS.
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and effective emergency response.
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Willingness to participate in staff meetings and unit projects.
• Completion of unit certifications or willingness to obtain them.
• Adheres to Brightshores CARE and LEAD competencies and safety culture.
• Preferred: Coronary Care Certificate; CRRT experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill adults, and occasionally children, in the critical care setting.

DEPARTMENT: CRITICAL CARE POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND UNION AFFILIATION: ONA STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE AUGUST 2027) REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENTWAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy, the registered nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of the provision of care of and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critical ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may return to, attain, or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• 3 years of recent Critical Care experience
• Critical Care Certificate
• Current BCLS
• Current ACLS
• Current PALS or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame

• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
