Job summary

Canada Packers is seeking a Receiver at the Souris Feed Mill to ensure safe, accurate receipt of ingredients for feed production. You will coordinate with truck drivers, production staff, QA, and supervisors to uphold quality and inventory accuracy.

You will be the first contact for drivers delivering to the facility, ensuring a positive experience while completing receiving tasks safely, accurately, and efficiently. This is a full-time day shift with a starting wage from $19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying shipments against bills of lading, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
  • Collecting ingredient samples and following quality assurance procedures.
  • Completing receiving documentation accurately and on time.
  • Inspecting incoming loads for quality concerns, contamination, damage, or shortages.
  • Directing truck drivers to unloading areas.
  • Operating receiving equipment including conveyors, augers, forklifts, skid steers as required.
  • Monitoring ingredient inventories and reporting discrepancies.
  • Maintaining organized receiving and storage areas with proper identification and traceability.
  • Following FeedAssure, HACCP, CFIA, bioscurity and company quality requirements.
  • Performing housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe work environment.

About this opportunity:

Location:Souris Feed Mill
Employment Type:Full-time (40 hours/week)
Salary:Starting wage from $19.00 per hour.
Schedule:Monday to Friday, Day Shift (9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

Are you someone who takes pride in accuracy, safety, and keeping operations running smoothly? As a Receiver at Canada Packers, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient receipt of ingredients that support our feed manufacturing operations.
Working closely with truck drivers, production employees, quality assurance personnel, and supervisors, you'll help maintain our quality standards, support inventory accuracy, and contribute to uninterrupted feed production.
As the first point of contact for drivers delivering ingredients to the facility, you'll play an important role in creating a positive experience while ensuring receiving activities are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • As a Receiver, your daily responsibilities will include:
  • Verifying shipments against bills of lading, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
  • Assisting in collecting ingredient samples and following established quality assurance procedures.
  • Assisting in completing the required receiving documentation accurately and on time.
  • Assisting in the inspection process of incoming loads for quality concerns, contamination, damage, or shortages.
  • Directing truck drivers to appropriate unloading areas.
  • Operating receiving equipment including conveyors, augers, forklifts, skid steers, and other material‑handling equipment as required.
  • Monitoring ingredient inventories and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Maintaining organized receiving and storage areas and ensuring proper ingredient identification and traceability.
  • Following all FeedAssure, HACCP, CFIA, biosecurity, and company quality requirements.
  • Performing housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. (Receiving bay areas, drivers lounge, entrance and exit of receiving area, exterior bin pads etc.)
  • Adhering to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience:

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Proof of eligibility may be requested during the recruitment process.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in receiving, inventory control, warehousing, agriculture, feed manufacturing, or a related environment is considered an asset.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work at heights when required.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in dusty environments and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and holidays as business needs require.
