Job summary

Big Country Raw in Ontario, Smithville is seeking a Material Handler to support daily production by ensuring materials are available, tracked, and ready for use. This role blends physical work with planning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Shift is Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing; food manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Forklift certification or prior forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and stage ingredients, raw materials, and packaging according to production schedules and recipes.
  • Set up production rooms and ensure all required materials are organized, accessible, and ready for use.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for ingredients, packaging, chemicals, sanitation supplies, and other production materials.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Warehouse teams to address material shortages, overages, and inventory concerns.
  • Organize freezers, coolers, and storage areas to support efficient production flow and material accessibility.
  • Prepare, temper, and replenish raw materials, ingredients, packaging, crates, and production supplies as required.
  • Complete inventory counts, consumption tracking, and production-related documentation accurately.

What You'll Do:

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for preparing, organizing, and managing the materials required to support daily production activities. You will ensure raw materials, packaging, dry ingredients, and production supplies are available, accurately tracked, and organized according to inventory and food safety requirements.

The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where priorities can shift throughout the day. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, inventory accuracy, and the ability to perform physical work.

What You'll Do:

What You Bring:
  • 1+ years of experience in inventory control, materials management, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting; food manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs consistently.ERP software experience is considered an asset.
