Manitoulin Transport in Ontario is hiring a Rate Audit Clerk for a full-time, hybrid role. You will compile and compute freight rates and charges, and examine freight bill information for accuracy against bills of lading.
You will use computer-generated rates and manuals when needed, respond to customer inquiries by email, fax, or phone, and ensure correct charges, while maintaining fast, accurate processing and familiarity with Canada/US geography.
Employees work in a hybrid mode: Position can be done in the office, or as work from home.
$21.31 – $23.68 per hour
Compiles and computes freightrates, and other charges for transportation services, according toratetables and tariff regulations.
Examines previously entered freight bill information for correctness and cross checking with copy of original bill of lading if deemed necessary.
Uses computer generatedratesand tariffs to obtain specific charges for customers depending on distance, weight and volume shipped.
If computer generatedratesare not available, must apply manualratesfrom currentrateagreements orratesbased on current costings.
Calculates and records storage, redelivery, reconsignment and other accessorial charges when applicable.
Answer E-mail, fax or telephone inquiries from customers and terminal contacts regardingrates, routing, packing procedures, service times and interline transportation procedures.
Examines bill of lading and other related documents in order to determine whether to rebill customers for short payments or credit off.
Compares computer generatedratesto hard copy files to verify accuracy when necessary.
Generates other carriers revenues to be paid and reviews differences in interline payables vs. carrier billing and authorize or declines balance dues.
Classifies freight based on freight bill description and current NMFC guide.
Keep abreast of all proper procedures and ensure that the screen information is correct. i.e.ratecards, biller cards, accessorial charges,rateagreements, etc.
Proven ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
Proven ability to perform under pressure.
Evidence of good communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Good geographical knowledge of Canada and the United States.
Good math skills
Speed and accuracy is critical.
Billing background would be an asset.
LTL 400 knowledge is an asset.
Spreadsheet and query knowledge would also be an asset.
